Several methods have been developed and applied to provide an understanding of the risks to the human population of mutagen and careinogen exposure over the past 20 years, These methods were originally used to evaluate the impact of occupational exposure and more recently the effects of environmental pollution on the health of populations. The main task of human biomonitoring has been to evaluate the genetic risk to human subjects.
