Researchers: Lead Poisoning Preventable With Greater Governmental Vigilance

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - The March issue of an environmental health publication contained an article that concluded that lead poisoning in South Africa is preventable with greater governmental vigilance. In 2002-03, the South African Medical Research Council conducted a survey of Johannesburg school children and found elevated blood-lead levels, which was attributed to peeling paint in their homes. The findings were published in the March issue of Environmental Health Perspectives.
