Environmentalists foist overblown figures onto gullible public

Editor:After reading The Drift of Things and Washington Survey (ME, August 2001, pages 4 and 5, respectively), I assembled some of my thoughts and comments concerning environmental excesses.I have enjoyed many years of experience in calculating material balances. And I have been quietly observing the numerous environmental limitations placed before the gullible public. However, some statements in the August issue led me to believe that it is time to counter the environmental overkill with some rational interpretation that, hopefully, the public can understand.
