Had any member of John Howard's Coalition Cabinet attended this year's National Congress put on by the Association of Exploration and Mining Companies Incorporated, he or she would have witnessed first hand how the newly-elected Canadian Government is doing the complete opposite of its Australian counterpart by taking a pro-active part in the sustainable development of its national minerals sector. The messenger came in the form of Patricia Dillon - president of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and corporate relations manager for Teck Cominco Ltd - who told AMEC delegates that despite a change in administration earlier this year, the Stephen Harper-led Canadian conservative administration had chosen to retain, for another year at least, a federal program which allowed an extra 15 percent super flow-through shares tax credit.
