Newmont looks to longterm options at Tanami

The year 2006 will be an important one in the life of the Tanami Operations in the Northern Territory and deep drilling from underground will seal its fate. (Deep drilling from underground will not start until 2007). The mine, located 550 km north west of Alice Springs, comprises a process plant at the Granites and the Callie underground mine at Dead Bullock Soak. The Tanami mill is now under care and maintenance following the completion of milling the ore from the Groundrush pit in September 2005.
