A process for producing power comprises injecting carbonaceous feedstock into an intermediate portion of a hydropyrolyzer (e.g. fluidised bed), subjecting the resultant fuel gas to char removing and quenching steps, and burning the fuel gas to produce flue gas and steam which is used in a turbine to produce e.g. electric power.
