Aluminium hot rolling and copper/steel coldrolling with water emulsifiable lubricants arecharacterized by common features and remarkabledifferences. A good knowledge of these features and thedifferences between chemical-physical and formulationparameters represent the right way to achieve bestperformances in each rolling process. Table 1 makes acomparison between the different types of lubricationfor steel, aluminium and copper. As you can notice, thecommon feature is the lubricant typology. This will becharacterized by a water emulsion of lubricantsubstances and other features. Therefore in spite oflubrication we could also speak of coo ling. The longlist in table 2 points out a great number of workingparameters which influence the performances of theemulsifiable fluid. We could affirm that a right useof the lubricant and the achievement of some workingparameters allow good quality, satisfactory workingperformances and less operating costs of lubricants andauxiliary fluids involved. Table 3 lists the featuresdetermining the final surface of the rolled material.
