摘要

Advances made in recent years in the production of cement-bonded products by vibratory compaction have stimulated research on recycling finely dispersed metallurgical and other types of wastes by briquetting. Blast-furnace operators in the U.S. had some success at the end of the 1990s in the large-scale use of briquets made of iron-bearing wastes [1, 2]. At the same time, Russian manufacturers have begun to use vibratory compaction to make cement-bonded briquets of metal-bearing wastes for metallurgical furnaces. The company EkoMashGeo (in Tula) served as a technical consultant in this work [3]. Smelting of the briquets in blast furnaces and testing of their metallurgical properties showed that their hot and cold strengths are sufficient to meet the requirements set for blast-furnace charge materials [4]. The briquets can be stored for long periods in open areas without any changes in those properties. Production of the briquets is a waste-free, environmentally clean process and consumes a minimum of energy (electric power and steam).
