Topography of the terminal part of the bovine testicular artery.

The study focused on the course of the terminal part of the testicular artery of bovine testis. The study was performed on 40 bovine testes. Macroscopic and binocular loupe analysis of soft and die-cast corrosive material was carried out. In 44% of gonads, the testicular artery was of a winding (zigzag) course at the posterior margin of the testis. A straight course was observed in 23% of cases. In 15% of gonads a laterally or medially arcuated course was present. The mixed-type course of the artery presented features of all others. Results showed that in 18% of cases. Additionally, a new, not yet reported, morphological variation of a branch of the testicular artery was observed. The middle part of the posterior margin of bovine testis is recommended for biopsy of the gonad. This area expresses the lowest risk of damage to major blood vessels.
