Timely and tiny: supporting remote learning through the use of personal digital assistants.

Context and setting CETL4HealthNE is a consortium involving five universities and National Health Service (NHS) partners across the northeast of England. CETL4HealthNE designs and delivers innovative learning and teaching programmes and develops new ways of sharing best practice in health care education across the range of health professionals, including doctors, nurses and pharmacists.Why the idea was necessary CETL4HealtiiNE identified a need for students to have access to clinical references when on placements in order to support their learning. When on placements, students are often unable to access the Internet and textbooks as a result of Internet restrictions imposed by hosting NHS partners and commercial pharmacies, or the remote locations of some placements.
