In this contribution to the series, Lynn Monrouxe (Director of Medical Education Research and the School of Medicine at Cardiff University, Wales) and Gary Poole (Associate Professor in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia, Canada) discuss their evolving perspectives on identity (i.e., individuals' conceptions and expressions of their individuality and group affiliations) as it pertains to health professional training.
