As well as offering current students insight into their future career paths, these events also provide industry representatives with the opportunity to meet potential employees. Each year the event has been sponsored by a company that employs materials engineering graduates. Past sponsors have included ALS Industrial and HRL Technology. This year the sponsor was UQ Materials Performance (UQMP). UQMP is a consultancy business based at the University of Queensland, specialising in materials & mechanical failure investigations and forensic engineering services, as well as in research & development of innovations to extend life and prevent future failures.
