Use and ageing of anti freeze mixtures in heating systems

On the basis of altering pH-values the ageing behaviour of frost resistant heating waters was tested.The investigations were carried out with pure glycol-water-mixtures and finished products underplant conditions as well as in the presence of air and metals at temperatures of 30, 60 and 90℃. It hasbeen proved that the ageing load was unimportant in modern heating systems. In order to bridgewinter periods without heating pure glycol can be used as anti freeze with corrosion chemicaladvantages after draining the heating plant. For long term protection anti freeze mixtures containinginhibitors are certainly more secure.
