New Zealand orchardists may finally see the end to a dispute with their Australian counterparts that has dragged on since 1921. The release, in February, of new (draft) import standards for New Zealand apples by Biosecurity Australia ends a trade dispute between New Zealand and Australia dating back to 1921, when Australia banned apple imports from New Zealand after the bacterial disease fireblight was found on apple trees there.
