Safety is key, shellfish conference told Market access issues outlined

PRODUCT safety and quality are the most important market access issues affecting the shellfish sector, a trade conference has heard. Giving the keynote speech on the opening day of the Association of Scottish Shellfish Growers (ASSG) International Conference in Oban in October, Lahsen Ababouch, head of seafood trade with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations said that other market access issues include tariffs and quotas, commercial labelling, environmental protection and resource sustainability, traceability and "private" standards and certification.
