High-tech forest surveying

摘要

For the past six years, TreeMetrics has pioneered and developed new technologies to replace the current 100-year-old techniques for forest measurement. Our focus is on the improvement of data collected in the forest, but also more importantly, the usability of this data to improve forest management and profitability. At present, most data on forests are sparse and inaccurate, compared with that which technological advances can offer. This is due to several factors including, out-dated base modellingfor tree measurements, inadequate sampling intensity and a lack of updated databases.
