In an effort to gain market share in the 32 dollar-billion-dollar bridal market, the American Floral Marketing Council (AFMC), the marketing arm of the Society of American Florists, will match funds with the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) to develop and promote a national consumer public relations bridal program. Designed to position the professional florist as the primary source for wedding planning and quality design, a comprehensive print publicity image-building campaign was developed and launched. Timed to meet editorial needs for spring and summer deadlines, the program included the distribution of floral and wedding trend press releases and photography to editors of national women's interest and bridal magazines, and fashionand lifestyle editors of over 800 major daily newspapers and Sunday magazine supplements across the country. In addition, a special photofeature column focusing on wedding planning was created and released via North American Precis to 1400 media outletsnationwide.
