Bucharest field camp is an example for student chapters everywhere

We are talking about the first geophysical field camp of the Bucharest Student Chapter of EAGE, held in Jurilovca, Tulcea county, Romania. This is a small historic village that hides an old fortress and the city of Argamum (Orgame), which is believed to be over 2700 years old. The concept of the project was initiated by a few members of the Bucharest Student Chapter (BSC) of the Society of Exploration Geophycists (SEG), affiliated at the University of Bucharest (UB). Their idea was to apply several non-invasive investigation methods on the site, to help the archaeologists find and map the buried structures of the fortress, and identify other elements of interest in the area. The investigation was able to draw upon equipment from the University of Bucharest for this geo-archaeology near surface geophysical project covering resistivity surveys, ground penetrating radar (GPR), magnetometry, and active seismics.
