Seven patients with acute midfoot trauma were treated at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, WA, between 1998 and 2000. The mean age of the patients was 39 years (range, 27-56). Six of the patients were injured as the result of a motor vehicle accident or a fall, and one suffered a direct crush injury that resulted in an open fracture-dislocation. All seven were treated with bridge plating of the medial column. In three of the patients, plates were used to span the talonavicular joint; in the other four patients, plates were extended from the tarsal navicular to the first metatarsal bone.
