EAT LESS FAT, That's been FDA's staunch stump speech for more than 10 years, and it has apparently fallen on deaf ears, and in empty stomachs, as Americans continue to loosen their belts, making obesity one of the nation's top health concerns. But amid the carb-cutting and calorie-counting crazes, the agency in its regulatory efforts for food label health claims has apparently changed its tune and is now targeting overall caloric content. That means the agency could change the "Nutrition Facts," on the side of the box by eliminating the line revealing the number of calories from fat and reporting overall calories.
