The external flow field and the aeroacoustic generated by automotive appendices such as the A-pilar rain gutters and outside-rear-view mirrorrs are simulated using Large Eddy Simulation (LES). In the present study the simulations were carried out for three rain gutter geometries and two different mirror models. In these cases the simulation results were compared with the existing experimental data. For the flow around the gutters the agreement was found to be very good (for all three configurations) for the entire range of frequency measured. In addition, the present numerical simulations appear to be more accurate than previously published results obtained for the same geometries using RANS approach. Finally, the simulations of two outside rear view mirror configurations on a flat plate were completed. Calculations carried out on coarse and fine grids were compared to experimental data. In this case averaged pressure and velocity magnitude were compared again demonstrating the accuracy of the present approach.
