摘要

For predicting response of crops to sulphur application , several extractant have been tried in India with variable results. Since selection of a promising extractant for a particular soil needs careful consideration, many studies have been planned to select the most promising extractant to predict the availability of sulphur to crops grown on different soils of India. It has been shown by many workers that for a given soil-crop situation, more than one extractant can be suitable but the critical limits used for categorising the soils into deficient , marginal and sufficient catdegories , will vary with the method. In fact n a given soil and with a given studies have been carried out under greenhouse conditions , there is an urgent need to validate the critical levels of soil sulphur under field conditions
