Inviting entrance gardens

Every house has a front door, an entryway where you leave the outside world behind and enter the realm you call home. For some, this threshold can include a short walk from a sidewalk or parking area or a long jaunt through a swath of green lawn. In my case, my front walk climbs a shady, terraced slope to which I've added and subtracted many plants over the years in a never-ending effort to create a welcoming journey for both me and my guests. Despite my best efforts, I've not yet achieved a design that I'm happy with.
