GPCRC a regional, national and international leader in pest management. Until the mid-1970s, pesticides were the primary, if not the only, control measure for pests of greenhouse crops in Canada. Pesticides were relatively inexpensive, readily available and control was fast acting. Pesticide control or greenhouse pests (i.e., greenhouse wratetly and two-spotted spider mite) was the first IPM activity conducted at the Harrow Research Centre. Herb Boyce and Dr. Bill Foott conducted the initial pesticide studies in the 1950s.
