The International Energy Agency’s (IEA) recently released World Energy Outlook predicts that China and the Middle East will lead a “global golden age for gas” beginning later this decade. The report forecasts the natural gas surplus to continue to increase throughout 2011 – hitting a peak of approximately 200 billion meters – before it gradually recedes as demand increases in those areas. The IEA reports that natural gas prices may have bottomed out already, but they will continue to slowly return to strength in the coming years.
