After six months as GSSA President, I know even more about the range of activities and the broader context which the GSSA operates Correspondence from within SA and all over the world shows how much the GSSA is held in respect for the high standard of our publications, conferences and the professional stature of our members. First hand, I have observed, how much activity and business is conducted on behalf of the GSSA and how much more could and should be done to further improve, support and promote the. interests of the geological sciences and geological professional practice in South Africa. More importantly, I am deeply grateful for the many members who have accepted responsibilities within the GSSA committee structures to offer a consistent service to our members
