MEASUREMENT OF SPECIFIC YIELD OF NEUTRONS PRODUCED BY MUONS, USING UNDERGROUND LVD DETECTOR

The total specific yield of neutrons produced by muons and products of their interactions in the substance of the detector was measured by the LVD underground scintillation detector at the Gran Sasso Laboratory at a depth of 3650m.w.e. The value obtained was in agreement with the results of experiments carried out with a similar technique at depths of 25, 316, 570, and 5200 m.w.e.
