In the year 2000, the city of Chicago commissioned a brave new landscape in its Millennium Park-and unlike many Millennium projects, almost a decade later, the Lurie garden is standing the test of time. It pays homage to the city's motto, Urbs in horto (city in a garden), which refers to Chicago's transformation from marshland to a bold and powerful city, the home town of 2009 President of the USA, Barack Obama.
