At Chinaplas 2014 in Shanghai in April, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag demonstrated a fast injection moulding system for caps production. On its stand, the company moulded HDPE screw caps using an El-Exis SP 420-3000 hybrid machine, with clamping force of 420 tonnes. The system was previously shown at the K 2013 fair in Dusseldorf, where it achieved a cycle time of approximately 2s. The demonstration at Chinaplas shaved a fraction from this cycle time to 1.9s.
