Goodyear europe gains but US margins slump

Higher sales volumes and favourable exchange rates helped Goodyear's tyre business to restored profitability in the European Union in third quarter 2002. The group's EU tyre business achieved margins of 3.6 percent in the three months to 30 Sept, compared to just 0.4 percent in the same period last year.
