The paper contains general information on the repair and refurbishment of hazardous area electrical machines for use in the marine and offshore industries. It encompasses general information on the minimum levels of effectively and economically carrying out repairs, reclamation and refurbishment to the aforementioned machinery. It is written in a practical rather than theoretical manner, and is intended to offer useful guidelines on the many different ways of effectively returning to service a piece of equipment that may otherwise be deemed impracticable to repair without prior knowledge of possible repair techniques.
