Constituents of Grazielia gaudichaudiana (Asteraceae)

Grazielia R.M. King and H. Rob. is a South American, mainly Brazilian, genus of the Eupatorieae (subtribe Disynaphiinae). Some of the species now assigned to this genus were originally placed in Eupatorium (King and Robinson, 1987). The genus Grazielia is represented by nine species, of which eight are endemic to Brazil. As part of our phytochemical studies on members of the Eupatorieae we report here on the chemistry of Grazielia gaudichaudiana (DC.) R. King and H. Robinson (Eupatorium gaudichaudianum DC.). The plant was collected by J.L.C.L. in Morro de Santa Rosalia, in Pocos de Caldas, Minas Gerais, Brazil. in December 1984 and identified by Dr Hermogenes de Freitas Leitao Filho. A voucher specimen (UEC 12.544) has been deposited in the Herbarium of the Instituto de Biologia, Universidade Estadual de Campinas, S.P., Brazil.
