Pollinators and flower visitors of chilli (Capsicum annuum) in non-urbanized and urbanized areas.

In chilli (Capsicum anhuum) pollinator-flower visitor interactions was studied at a small garden in an urbanized area and at natural big cultivated crop vegetable fields near Nilganj which is considered as non-urbanized area. Preferable time of visit, mean stay time/flower/visit in seconds, mean number of flower visited/60 seconds, mean number of other plants visited, observation site and whether it is pollen eater or nectar feeder were recorded for six months (November 2011 to April 2012). Effective pollinators in case of chilli are Eurema hecabe, Apis florae, Ypthima huebneri, Oenopia sp. are regarded as most successful pollinators. In non-urbanized area insect pollinators' diversity are higher. Identification of mono pollinators and multi pollinators are done to adopt creative measures for mono pollinators immediately to protect them from extinction.
