Broccoli florets of variety Sadhana (F, hybrid) were subjected to five different pre and post harvest treatments with 6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP) viz., T, = Pre-harvest 25 ppm BAP, T, = Pre-harvest 50 ppm BAP, T3 = Post harvest 25 ppm BAP, T4 = Post harvest 50 ppm BAP, and T5 = Control (water). All the treatments treatment were pre-packed separately in zip polyethylene packets (490 micron) of 24 x 16 cm size with 1% perforation and stored at low temperature of 7 + 1°C and relative humidity of 80-85%.Observation of organoleptic quality i.e. dehydration, visual mould development, unpleasant odour, exuded present, browning and yellowing and physiological loss of weight (PLW) was recorded at different days interval during storage. Post harvest treatments with BAP appreciably reduced loss of organoleptic quality (OQ) compared to pre-harvest treatments particularly during later period of storage. Post harvest treatment of BAP 50 ppm (T4) was superior to 25 ppm (T3)as indicated by least OQ score throughout the period of storage. Physiological loss of weight of pre-harvest treated florets (T and T2) remained lower than post harvest treatments.
