Legally Binding Agreement on Forests in Europe - The Process -

At the FOREST EUROPE Ministerial Conference held in Oslo, 14-16 June 2011, ministers responsible for forests unanimously decided to establish an Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC). The Committee was given the mandate to develop a legally binding agreement (LBA) on forests in Europe. The history, however, starts with the Warsaw 2007 Ministerial Conference, where a proposal to explore the issue was tabled. The Negotiating Committee should complete its tasks by 30 June 2013, and then presentits results to an extraordinary FOREST EUROPE Ministerial Conference within six months of the conclusion of the negotiations.
