Euphoria et cacophoria-anecdotes, reminiscences and controversies of Aldo Castellani; and 'who let Castellani go'?

The International Society of Dermatology was founded by Aldo Castellani and Frederick Reiss as the International Society of Tropical Dermatology in 1958 (Figs 1 & 2). The inaugural ceremony was held in New York City in i960 (Fig. 3). At this time, as a young physician, I had the great fortune to be appointed by my uncle Dr Anthony Cipollaro to act as Aldo Castellani's aide for the duration of his visit to New York City.
