Land seismic companies are enjoying a flurry of activity as exploration and production companies race to find new prospects. Onshore seismic acquisition has never been a pretty business. Images of vibroseis trucks roaming the desert or tired crews slogging through jungles carrying heavy equipment do not conjure thoughts of a glamorous occupation. But companies that offer these services couldn't be happier - the oil industry's appetite for this data has seriously ramped up over the past 2 years. The industry's need for new prospects in its portfolio, combined with some exciting new technologies, have enabled onshore contractors to add new crews at a rapid pace. And high commodity prices don't hurt, either.
