Global BF pellet production grew by approximately 5.8% to a record high of 332.7Mt in 2011. The share of BF pellets as a proportion of total iron ore production fell to 15% in 2009 before rising to 17% in 2010. In 2011, this share remained largely unchanged from the previous year as weakening steel prices saw demand growth for pellets slow in the second half of 2011.
