Exxon to Drill in Makassar

Exxon Mobil is about to start drilling its deepwater Surumana and Mandar Blocks in Indonesia's Makassar Strait. Work will begin after the US supermajor takes delivery of Seadrill's West Aquarius rig this month, a month later than planned. Exxon originally intended to start drilling in December but has pushed back the date to late January.The two blocks could hold up to 1 billion boe of potential reserves, Indonesian officials say. Exxon said last year that it would spend up to $450 million on exploration.
