Final recommendations from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary's Advisory Committee on Genetics, Health, and Society (SACGHS) highlight the need to make genetics information part of health professionals' training curricula, a prerequisite for their accreditation, and a requirement for licensure and certification. The HHS made this and 5 other recommendations on genetics education for healthcare professionals, public health providers, and consumers during SACGHS' October 6, 2010 meeting, the last before HHS dissolves the committee at the end of February 2011.
