摘要

Stress intensity factors in a cylinder with a circumferential crack are evaluated. An indirect method, the computing compliance method, is developed to study the problem. The stress intensity factor is obtained from the displacement response for two crack length cases. a and a + #DELTA#a. The finite difference method is used to solve the boundary value problem. Numerical examples are given which demonstrate the effect of cylinder length on the stress intensity factor.
