The Drug Information Association (DIA; www.diahome.org) serves >20 000 professionals in the global biotechnology, pharmaceutical and regulatory industries. DIA provides a neutral global forum for the exchange of information critical to the advancement of the drug discovery and lifecycle management processes. A volunteer-based board of directors and management team lead the DIA. The clinical trial process is undergoing a technology revolution - the roles of the investigator, study manager, monitor and data manager are changing, The conference addressed the key current questions: Is technology driving clinical practice or do new clinical processes sufficiently influence the development and adoption of electronic solutions? This multi-track conference focused on clinical operations. The conference gave everyone involved in clinical trials an opportunity to build a greater collective understanding of how to embrace new technology and what needs to be done to fully accommodate the necessary change. The event gave insights into new ways of working. The exhibitors, speakers and attendees came from Europe, the US, China, India, Israel, Japan, Singapore and Turkey.
