Learning disabilities: Meeting essential standards

It is unacceptable that some of the most vulnerable members of our society are still not experiencing safe and appropriate care and support, and there remains to be questions about whether they are being adequately protected from abuse. During its investigatory process, where CQC inspectors identified concerns, these types of concerns were raised immediately with providers and managers. Those failing to meet essential standards could face enforcement action if they fail to make improvements. Enforcement action enables the CQC to make services pay a fine, give them a public warning, prevent them from caring for any new residents, and stop them from providing care for existing residents, while a fuller investigation is carried out.
