Significant role played by small and medium-sized enterprises in the Italian financial market

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) represent a crucial means to Italy's economic growth. The role played by SMEs in the Italian economy is confirmed, among other things, by the fact that SMEs represent 99.8 per cent of the overall number of Italian companies involved in manufacturing and employ 77 per cent of the manufacturing industry's total workforce.
