GE Advanced Materials,Carlisle Engineered Products,and Vari-Form have teamed up to develop plastic-metal hybrid front-end modules they call Hydroplast Structures,created by molding a steel insert and Noryl GTX(PPO/PA alloy).Unlike other hybrids that use stamped steel,the Hydroplast version contains steel formed by pressure sequence hydroforming to eliminate multiple dies required for stamped steel parts.In addition,the new module will feature a means of connecting the metal and pkstic during molding,a proprietary process nained SmartLok Connection,Details of this process were unavailable at the time of publication.
