German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday (June 8) said expectations for an ambitious Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership must not be overblown and that a final deal must be evaluated on whether its benefits outweigh the costs. "In the end, we have to make an evaluation on whether the benefits outweigh the things we could not resolve," she told a German trade association, according to a German language transcript provided by her office. "Of course, a deal must be an advantage for us," she said, according to an informal translation.
