A controversial new law that will see illegal file sharers disconnected from the internet for repeat offences has finally been passed by the French National Assembly.The legislation, described as one of the toughest ever drafted against internet piracy, passed with 296 votes to 233 in the lower house before being approved by 189 votes to 14 in the Senate. It failed to receive approval in the assembly when it was first put forward in April 2009.
