Acambis resists vaccine action

Acambis,the biotechnology company,has said that it would defend its legal position after it was accused by Bavarian Nordic,a rival smallpox vaccine developer,of patent infringement.Bavarian Nordic,which is based in Denmark,said that it had started legal proceedings against Acambis s MVA smallpox vaccine products with the US International Trade Commission.If it succeeds in its action,it will be able to prevent imports into the US,or to claim a royalty for each dose imported.
