Characterization of human plasma amine oxidase.

Introduction:Recently the amine oxidase present in human blood plasma has triggered considerable interest when it was found that its activity was significantly increased in various diseases including diabetes, liver inflammation and obesity and by circumstantial evidence that this increased activity may lead to vascular complications in these patients [1,2]. The apparent lack of information on this enzyme prompted us to purify human plasma amine oxidase (PAO) and study its molecular and enzymatic properties.
