Pricing of Tea Leaves: A Case History of Tea Estates and Small Tea Cultivators

The rate of growing demand for tea is not in direct proportion to the rate of increase in supply. Both Southern and Northern India has made their substantial contribution for the present surplus production problem. Among the Southern states, Tamilnadusnatches away a lion's share of contribution having Nilgiris district for its bedrock and has been branded as the highest tea growing state. Hence, there arises a need to investigate the problems of tea and tealeaves prices. So, an attempt has been made to evolve strategies to tackle the problems in tea industry.
